WHAT IS BODY STRESS RELEASE?
Body Stress Release (BSR) is a safe technique suitable for everyone, from infants to the elderly, which prompts the body to naturally heal by releasing the accumulated stresses which may become locked in the body.
Physical, emotional, mental, and chemical stresses disrupt natural body healing processes. At the point of overload, accumulated stress in the body’s physical structures exerts pressure on the spinal nerves and may result in symptoms such as:
– pain,
– numbness,
– muscle weakness,
– stiffness or cramping,
– distorted posture,
– backache & neck pain,
– dizziness and headaches,
– sciatica,
– fibromyalgia,
– constipation,
– anxiety, fidgeting and an inability to sit still.

INTENSIVE
PHASE
3 scheduled appointments:
– Initial appointment (on day 1)
– 1st Follow-up (on day 4) and
– 2nd Follow-up (on day 11)
REHABILITATION PHASE
Once a week or once a fortnight depending on the severity of the case.
MAINTENANCE PHASE
Your commitment to your optimum health with a monthly or six-weekly appointment.
WHAT TO EXPECT FROM BSR
The Body Stress Release modality works with the body as whole, as a gentle technique to assist the body’s own healing process and brings effective relief from symptoms caused by cumulative stress in the body. These stresses can be mechanical, chemical, or mental/ emotional which reach an overload level and the body is no longer able to adapt constructively. The stored stress then becomes locked into the body’s physical structures, causing pain, stiffness, numbness, or postural distortions. This impact on the nervous system undermines the body’s natural ability to co-ordinate its healing and maintenance functions.
BSR brings effective relief to back pain, various types of stress, and sporting injuries without the use of medication or machines.
It does not involve massage, manipulation, pressure points, or energy meridians.

ORIGINS OF BSR
BSR is a unique worldwide complementary health technique researched and developed in South Africa in the 1980’s by Gail and Ewald Meggersee to treat Ewald’s debilitating ongoing pain he suffered after falling out of a tree at five years old. From being a near-cripple, Ewald regained his strength and lived pain-free as a result of regular BSR appointments.
WORLDWIDE BSR
Tens of thousands of people around the world have benefited from BSR since the Meggersees opened their first practice in Cape Town, South Africa, in 1981. Their practice grew exponentially as clients experienced the benefits of BSR and word quickly spread making it apparent that additional practitioners were needed. This resulted in the founding of the Body Stress Release Academy in 1987 at Rondevlei, in Wildernis near George in the Western Cape, South Africa. There practitioners from across the world are trained under an intensive 6-month program.
